The term RETINITE refers to natural amber from the Dominican Republic. Unlike Baltic Amber, it does not contain succinic acid and almost always occurs in nodules with a marked transparency. (More information)
The specimen has several easily visible and very well preserved flowers. The flowers are quite rare inclusions and, when found, they are those of the "Himenaea" tree which was the source of the resin which will later turn into amber. There are also two small insects (termites)
