Peridot or olivine is a nesosilicate of magnesium (80%) and iron (20%) which crystallizes in the rhombic system in rare prismatic crystals, often tabular, but is more often found in granules or compact masses of green and yellow green color

General physical properties: hardness from 6.5 to 7 - density from 3.27 to 3.48 g / cm3 - refractive indices about 1.65 and 1.71
